Brains On, one of the leading kids' podcasts, is hiring a producer for a new kids' podcast currently in development. We're looking for someone with creative chops and good sensibilities for making content that is entertaining, engaging and appropriate for young audiences. This new producer will work closely with the Brains On team to develop a new podcast and to continue its production after the launch of the program.
We're looking for a deeply imaginative storyteller, someone who is curious, playful, and is excited by the opportunity for producing great stories for smart kids. Please be self-motivated, a good team member, and have extensive audio editing/writing experience. We use Pro Tools and will expect that you can too. Experience with structuring narratives is essential, and some sound design/scoring ability is preferred.
Strong preference for applicants with prior experience in podcast production.
This is a temporary, full-time position that lasts for 6 months.

Collaborate with Brains On's hosts and producers on the creative process that generates themes, guests, and story ideas for new kids podcasts; help develop the evolving vision for new kids podcasts. Edit audio. Write scripts. Conduct production in the field/on location. Research and write for the podcast, including tracking and organizing research materials, permissions, content acquisition, ect. Book guests and conduct interviews. Edit programs within required deadlines. Collaborate on editorial content, creative sound design and narrative approach. Report and voice pieces for the show.
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience. 5+ years of journalism, radio/podcast production, or reporting experience. Experience in audio production and digital audio editing. Experience in writing for radio. Experience field producing and recording. Experience in project management with multiple departments.

Ability to create a vision for podcast show topics. Strong organizational and communication skills. Ability to edit and mix high quality programming with Pro Tools. Proven ability to contribute to a positive, diverse, creative, high performance culture. Ability to evaluate content/quality/sound and act decisively. Extensive knowledge of digital audio broadcast software and techniques, studio and field production. Ability to produce programs of national quality.
Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
Knowledge of multi-track and broadcast consoles. Familiarity with ISDN, telephone, and Skype interfaces.
