GENERAL SUMMARY: Work under the general direction of the Real-time Scheduling Manager. Responsible for the coordination, monitoring, troubleshooting and scheduling of live captioning broadcasts. Provide support to clients and remote caption writers to ensure our service obligations, goals and program standard operating procedures are met. Provide overall assistance as it relates to program coverage, preparation and transmission of live captioning and future projects.

GENERAL CRITERIA: Must possess a minimum of two years of previous technical experience in AV, networking or captioning/subtitling production technology preferred. Ability to multi-task under pressure, acquire new skills quickly. Successful candidate must be able to communicate effectively with other technical and non-technical personnel in a stressful environment. Ability to remain calm and cool under pressure is required.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to:

Organize, coordinate, monitor and schedule captioning coverage for real time programming.

Coordinate and route closed caption data traffic through various electronic devices using control software.

Enter program information and billing information into the appropriate fields of the resource planning software.

Assist in the gathering and dissemination of program-related information.

Monitor captioned broadcasts as assigned, troubleshoot during live broadcasts as required and maintain program status reports describing any discrepancies.

Function as a liaison between program distributors and captioning personnel.

Have the ability and flexibility to work overtime, weekends and holidays as necessary to meet program coverage commitments.

Keep abreast of departmental and program specific requirements as they related to client requirements.

Develop, refine, and communicate efficient processes.

Evaluate and score Real-time captioning for quality, accuracy and completeness.

Perform other related and assigned duties.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: General knowledge of television production, understanding of signal path and data routing, broadcast deadline experience, analytical skills, ability to deal with details and work well under pressure. Ability to plan, coordinate and have good oral and written communication skills.

Education Required: Bachelors degree in communication, television, IT or related field or Associates degree and equivalent experience. Experience in broadcast captioning field or related equivalent experience desirable.
