Are you passionate about using video to tell compelling stories? Are you a creative storyteller who can make a big impact in a one-minute video? Are you adept at using social media to amplify your video storytelling? And are you a natural collaborator as well as a self-starter? Brandeis University is looking for an energetic, creative video storyteller/producer to help us engage with students, alumni, faculty and other stakeholders. The video producer/storyteller will generate, develop and produce great stories in multimedia formats that promote and advance institutional goals. The video producer will focus primarily on creative digital storytelling for the web in the format and style best suited to the content and target audiences.
Examples of Key Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the look and tone of video content in alignment with brand messaging. Must be able to execute all aspects of digital video production, including story concepting, interviewing, script writing, shooting, editing in Adobe Premiere, creating graphics and other effects, incorporating sound, music and photographs. Works closely with director of strategic communications, social media manager and web team to craft content for Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, and partners with digital communicators across campus to effectively advance the university's core messages and brand.
- Manages outside vendors for special projects as needed. Must be able to use analytics to drive video strategy and content distribution across media channels, including YouTube. Maintains and updates creative and technical skills consistent with the field to stay abreast of changing technologies and techniques. Organizes and manages all digital video assets.
Bachelor’s Degree plus 3-5 years of professional experience in video storytelling and production.
Working knowledge of best video compression practices for the web. Working knowledge of digital photographic practices, including digital image manipulation/correction using Adobe Photoshop, image compression and processing for motion graphics, as well as extensive knowledge of relevant photographic/computer hardware (digital cameras, scanners, printers, etc.). Extensive Adobe Premiere experience required to provide a finished product for use on the web.
Strong knowledge of digital photography and videography trends. Experience with shooting DSLR video; top-notch interview skills. Proven ability to collaborate with partners who have varying content needs to produce strategic and engaging content.
