Job Summary

The Silver Orange is a registered non-profit with a vision to provide teens with a safe, fun place to hang out. Part of The Silver Orange's mission is to contribute to the local art and music scene. We host all-ages concerts, open mic nights, and art shows.

We are seeking unpaid interns and volunteers who are looking to gain experience working in live music and art. This position also provides work experience in financial transactions, supervising a crowd, performer (band and artist) relations, and customer service.

Concert and art shows are hosted on Fridays and Saturdays. We are seeking interns and volunteers available to work from 6:00pm to 11:00pm. Reliability and consistency in following a pre-determined schedule is required.

All interns are required to be 16 years or older. Individuals under 18 are required to complete a parent/guardian release. Our unpaid Interns are compensated in verification of community service time, letters of reference, possible class credit, and resume building.

Our interns and volunteers gain free admission for themselves and a friend for all of The Silver Orange all ages concerts and art shows. We support our staff who are currently going to school, and at times, they are even able to work on classwork on the job!

Responsibilities and Duties

Administrative

  • Follow a pre-determined schedule and all scheduling protocols
  • Complete all on-boarding paperwork
  • Communicate effectively with supervisor
  • All other assigned duties

Concert/Events

  • Manage "the door" which includes admissions and financial transactions
  • Manage "the snack shack" which includes customer service and financial transations
  • Support the bands and artists
  • Supervise the crowd
  • All other assigned duties

Qualifications and Skills

  • 16 years of age (with guardian permission) or older
  • Past history of reliability
  • Friendly
  • Customer service skills
  • Willingness to learn
  • Comfortable in a concert (loud music) environment
